Method
- Crush tomatoes by hand in a bowl.
- Heat olive oil in wide pan over medium heat.
- Add garlic and cook 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add crushed tomatoes and salt.
- Simmer uncovered for 12–15 minutes.
- Tear basil into sauce and stir.
- Adjust salt and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use whole San Marzano tomatoes for best flavor.
- Do not brown the garlic.
- Do not cover the pan while simmering.
- Tear basil by hand, don’t chop.
