Creamy Florida Shrimp Pie

Ingredients
  

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • 1 lb raw shrimp peeled, deveined, chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 large eggs
  • cups sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Pinch cayenne optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Blind bake pie crust for 8–10 minutes; set aside.
  3. Sauté onion in butter until soft. Add garlic.
  4. Add shrimp; cook just until pink. Remove from heat.
  5. Whisk cream, eggs, cheese, and seasonings.
  6. Fold in shrimp mixture.
  7. Pour into crust and bake 35–40 minutes.
  8. Rest 15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Use raw shrimp only
  • Don’t skip resting time
  • Blind baking prevents soggy crust
  • Adjust seasoning to taste
