Ingredients
  

  • Salisbury Steaks:
  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef 80/20
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup minced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Red Wine Mushroom Gravy:
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 8 oz mushrooms sliced
  • 1 small onion sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • ¾ cup dry red wine
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Mix all patty ingredients gently. Shape into oval patties.
  2. Sear patties 3–4 minutes per side. Remove.
  3. Sauté mushrooms and onions in butter. Add garlic.
  4. Stir in flour. Cook 1 minute.
  5. Add red wine and reduce slightly.
  6. Add beef broth and thyme. Simmer.
  7. Return patties to skillet. Simmer 10–15 minutes until 160°F internal temp.
  8. Spoon gravy over patties and serve.

Notes

  • Use 80/20 beef for best texture.
  • Do not overmix meat mixture.
  • Simmer gently to prevent tough patties.
  • Let patties rest briefly before serving.
