Ingredients

  • For the crust and crumble:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pro tip: Use good-quality butter here—like Kerrygold. It makes a huge flavor difference.
  • For the apple filling:
  • 3 medium Granny Smith apples peeled and diced
  • 2 medium Honeycrisp apples peeled and diced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • A mix of tart and sweet apples keeps the flavor balanced—trust me, it’s worth it.
  • For the salted caramel drizzle:
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce store-bought or homemade
  • Optional: Sprinkle of flaky sea salt for topping

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 9x13-inch pan.
  2. Combine crust ingredients; press 2/3 into pan.
  3. Toss apple filling ingredients; layer over crust.
  4. Add remaining crumble; bake 35–40 mins.
  5. Cool completely; drizzle with salted caramel.
  6. Chill before cutting and serving.

Notes

  • For a crispier top, broil the last 2–3 minutes (watch closely).
  • Homemade caramel keeps up to 2 weeks in the fridge.
  • These bars taste even better the next day.
  • Always let them cool fully before slicing for clean bars.
