Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cream cheese
  • 1 egg + 1 yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • Frosting:
  • ½ cup butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 –3 tbsp cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Food coloring
  • Sprinkles

Method
 

  1. Whisk flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add cream cheese, egg, yolk, vanilla, and almond extract.
  4. Mix dry ingredients into the wet just until combined.
  5. Chill the dough for at least 1 hour.
  6. Roll dough to ¼ inch thickness and cut shapes.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 8–10 minutes until edges just set.
  8. Cool completely before frosting.
  9. Frost with buttercream and decorate.
